In our current sermon series, No Other Gospel, we’re considering the ultimate question: what makes a person right with God? We’ll look at the heart’s desire to earn God’s favor by ‘being good’ on the one hand, or to turn God’s grace into an excuse for unrepentant self-centered living on the other. In Galatians, we’ll see the true gospel, its most common counterfeit, and why it’s so important to discern between them.

40 Days of Decrease:
Women’s Discipleship Lenten Fast
Wednesday Feb 18 – April 2 | RSVP by Feb 9
This year, we are inviting the women of Trinity to participate in observing the Lenten season together. We will be reading the book 40 Days of Decrease by Alicia Britt Chole, which includes daily readings in John as Jesus journeys to the cross, reflection questions, and daily fasts of things such as regret, comparison, fixing it, or spectatorship. Join us as we observe a different kind of hunger and a different kind of fast, preparing our hearts to live in awe of Jesus’ resurrection. Additional details will be provided on the registration form. Last day to register is Feb 9th.
Josephus and Jesus:
New Evidence for the One Called Christ
Sun Feb 15 | 11:30AM | Lower-Level Meeting Room
Join us after the service on January 25 in the lower level meeting room to hear elder Tom Schmidt speaking about his book Josephus and Jesus: New Evidence for the One Called Christ. Tom will share regarding the extraordinary connection between Jesus of Nazareth and the Jewish historian Josephus who in 93/94 CE wrote an account of Jesus known as the Testimonium Flavianum. Despite this being the oldest description of Jesus by a non-Christian, scholars have long doubted its authenticity. Tom will discuss evidence for Josephus’s authorship of the Testimonium Flavianum, and will describe how Josephus would have had access to highly reliable information about Jesus. The conclusions will have encouraging implications for our faith!
