Helping the Needy...

Night Runners Outreach is Trinity’s outreach to the homeless and is always open to new volunteers!

If you’re wondering what is Night Runners, here’s what we do:

1. Visiting Columbus House (local homeless shelter).

We visit the Columbus house shelter once a week to build relationships, help with practical needs, share God’s word and offer prayer. This spring, we will be going on Wednesday nights from 6:00 to 7:00pm.

2. Rides to Church on Sundays.

We provide rides from the shelter to church on Sunday mornings and evenings. If you want to help, email me or maud.sandbo@yale.edu. We need more people to drive once or twice a month, especially in evenings.

3. New Initiatives.

a. Serving Dinner at Columbus House. I hope that a group of us would go to Columbus house once a month to serve a meal (probably dinner). This would be a good opportunity for people who can’t come on a weekly basis to serve and meet people at the shelter. I am looking for someone who’d like to take the lead in coordinating this.

b. Reaching out in new locations. Two blocks away from the new church building, there is a permanent housing facility for 33 formerly homeless people. There may be opportunity to begin a ministry at this location by serving meals and/or leading a Bible study for the people there, on nights or weekends.

Please let Greg know if you are interested to be involved in any of these ways, or if you have any questions about interacting with the homeless in New Haven.

Email Greg Hendrickson for information or call him at 203-214-5266.
